Give a Dog a Home is a not for profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. Initially the organisation was set up in 2013 to rescue street and shelter dogs from abroad and find them permanent homes here in the UK after assessing them using their network of trained volunteer fosterers.

After rescuing and saving almost 600 dogs in 6 years the organisation has evolved. As well as providing full rescue back up for those dogs it helped to bring to the UK the organisation is now looking at supporting neutering programmes, education, training and lobbying in order to improve the situation for dogs overseas and already here in the UK. It also works closely with other rescue organisations, both here and abroad, who are still bringing dogs into the UK and promotes them on their website in the hope of finding them permanent homes.

The full rescue back up service is an expensive one. Providing medication, behaviourist support and rehabilitation facilities is currently costing the organisation several hundred pounds a month. In order to support these dogs and to achieve our other aims we are constantly seeking new streams of fundraising.

Give a Dog a Home also has a sister group Spay It Forward, which raises funds for the sterilisation of street dogs in European countries. By helping trusted dog-rescuers and organised Spayathons to spay and neuter homeless dogs in their localities, SpIF strives to reduce the canine overpopulation crisis at its source and thereby reduce the number of puppies born into lives of needless suffering, fear and premature deaths. Please visit our Spay It Forward sister website for more information.
